The band lost creative control over their music when the possibility of a fourth album hinged upon letting Capitol call the shots.
Sent to Los Angeles to work with a new producer, Christopher Bond (Hall and Oates) John and Dee spent most of their time in the studio accompanied by session players recording Klaatu's fourth album while Terry provided moral support. Then they were sent home to Canada during the mixing - a function that is incredibly important to the Klaatu sound. Believing this album would be their last, they aptly named it 'Endangered Species'.
